🤗 I love pugs and pug-mixes. I love them so very much that I wish for a ranch where I can adopt and foster armloads of pugs. The more the pugs, the merrier I feel.

👻 So, I couldn't help myself. I wrote a story. A horror story with a ghostly revenge ending. "Rules to Eating A Dead Dog's Heart."

🥰Week 1 since the release of my new book, Born of Dirt & Dust, and it's been thrilling (both nerve-wracking and exciting) seeing the number of readers purchasing the book, sharing their photos, videos, and posts engaging with the book and sending their congratulations.

🌻All the while, pricking at the back of my mind, needling me to keep my fingers crossed, I am hoping, hoping readers will feel a connection to the characters in these stories, and their environments, their worlds, their struggles, and their ways of survival when born of dirt and dust.

🌗The book is fiction. Yet the narratives feel prickly and real. No matter that the book's genre dives into fantasy, sci-fi, and horror. Certain situations demand certain choices. We do what we must to make sense of our realities.

🦋Many, many thanks and appreciation to every reader who supported Born of Dirt & Dust during the first week of the book's release. Fun fact:

I have a secret desire to adapt a few stories from Born of Dirt & Dust into zines.

Especially since visual elements are wonderful tools for storytelling. Something I did during my early elementary school years.

I snuck paper, colored pencils, and a flashlight into bed with me at night.

Beneath the covers, I zined a penguin story. Wrote, sketched, and colored 2 8.5 x 11" pages folded in half, resulting in an 8-page booklet.

I'm sure it's still hidden somewhere under my childhood bed next to all my memories.

Introducing Mr. Bubbles 🥰

At the office where I work for a franchising organization, a colleague whose 8-year-old daughter is interested in graphic novels, fantasy stories, and library books, asked about some of my published work. She mentioned her daughter is interested in reading what I've written. Wow! That made me feel good.

My eyes flipped through the rolodex in my head until I landed on Mr. Bubbles.

I passed along the story & heard my colleague had loved it and couldn't wait to share it with her daughter and her daughter's bestie who both happen to to be named the same as two memorable characters in Mr. Bubbles.

Feeling grateful, I couldn't help but think and believe that stories have a special way of connecting us and keeping us close together, no matter the difference in age or the distance from one landscape to another. It's a good feeling, warmth that comes from the heart.
